The four steps in the video
Start with something real in front of your child, like an apple on the table.
Say what it is in simple words so your child connects the word to the thing.
Invite your child to say the word, or a short sentence, in their own voice.
Use the same word again in another moment so it sticks.
Try this tonight: 5 minutes, three things
- Choose three objects around your home, such as an apple, a bottle and a toy.
- Ask your child to find one of them.
- Ask them to name it in English.
- Ask for one short sentence, such as "It is a red apple." If they give one word, that is a good start.
